What is Coffee Syrup?

Coffee syrup is a delightful concoction made by infusing syrups with rich coffee flavors. It typically comes in a variety of flavors such as vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, chocolate, and more. Think of it as a concentrated essence of the flavors you love, ready to be poured into your favorite cup of coffee. Coffee syrup is a versatile ingredient that allows you to customize your coffee, catering to your unique taste preferences.

How to Use Coffee Syrup

There are a lot of different types of coffee out there to make, and by adding flavor you’re bringing in a touch of sweetness to your coffee. Whether it’s a rich caramel syrup or a velvety vanilla, coffee syrup effortlessly infuses your brew with delicate sweetness. It’s a simple yet effective way to indulge your sweet tooth and transform your morning routine into a daily treat.

When using coffee syrup you should know that getting the right amount in your drink might take some trial and error. Even following the directions on the syrup bottle might make your coffee too sweet or not sweet enough. If you use a pump for your syrup you can monitor how many pumps of syrup you add, and adjust the amount of pumps if you need to for the next time around.

Now that we covered some of the idiosyncrasies of the syrups let’s get right down to how to add the syrup to your coffee.

  1. Add your syrup before you add anything else. This will help the syrup mix into the drink.
  2. If you’re making a latte or cappuccino type of drink then follow these steps:
    • Add the syrup to your mug first.
    • Add the coffee or espresso shots.
    • Swirl the syrup and coffee in the mug to blend the two together. You should still be able to maintain a good crema in the coffee.
    • Add the milk and froth.

How Much Syrup to Add to Coffee

The amount of coffee syrup you should use depends on your personal preference. Generally, 2 tablespoons (30ml or 1 ounce) of syrup is a good starting point for a regular coffee cup. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add more syrup, but be careful not to overdo it, as too much syrup can make your coffee taste too sweet. You can also experiment with different flavors of syrup to find your favorite.

Here are some tips for using coffee syrup:

  • Start with a small amount of syrup and add more to taste.
  • If you are using a pump dispenser, each pump dispenses about 1/4 fluid ounce of syrup.
  • You can also add syrup to other coffee drinks, such as lattes, cappuccinos, and mochas.
  • Coffee syrup can also be used to make desserts, such as coffee cake, cupcakes, and ice cream.

How I Make My Coffee with Torani Syrup Taste Great

I must admit that I love my coffee. And not to brag too much, but I’d rather have my coffee over just about any coffee shop out there. Especially, all of the big brands. Here is how I make my lattes and cappuccinos that save me a ton of money every year because I make coffee at home instead of ordering from the big brands.

You certainly need to start out with a good coffee. After tasting many coffees I order from two places. My favorite is the Mexican Chiapas coffee from Big Bend Coffee Roasters. I also like Texas True Blue Coffee who also donates back to a good cause.

Now that you have your coffee we also need Torani Coffee Syrup. I love the Torani Puremade syrups. It tastes a little more real and authentic to me. Below are my favorites in order.

After the syrups I also need to to mention that I grind my own coffee beans. Below is the coffee grinder I use along with the D’elonghi ECP3630 – love the machine so much I wrote a review on it.

Now I’m ready to make my coffee. I grind a tablespoon of beans to a medium-fine grind and pour the Torani syrup into my mug. I put the ground beans into the portafilter and turn on the machine to begin heating. When the espresso maker is heated I turn it on dispensing about 2-3 espresso shots into my mug. After that I turn the dial to froth about 8 ounces of milk. I like that the frother allows you to froth the milk to the perfect texture.

When I’m don frothing the milk, I swirl the syrup and coffee so they mix together really well. I pour in the milk and froth, and I end up with a wonderful cup of coffee!
